Josh Crowley - Tenor Sax

A native of Virginia, Crowley grew up cutting his teeth in the local bar scene. While doing this he was also pursuing a parallel path learning and performing in the jazz idiom. This dichotomy is what makes his playing a unique contribution to the horn section. Crowley first met Strange Changes trombone player Geoff Nielson when he was 12. Together they toured and recorded with the Young Razzcalls Jazz Project. They performed several times at the prestigious Telluride Jazz Festival in Colorado. This experience allowed him to share the stage with jazz luminaries such as Richie Cole and Larry Coryell. Choosing to study music at the collegiate level Josh applied to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, which he currently attends.
Today you can catch Crowley performing in a wide variety of projects. As well as playing with Strange Changes he is also in the New England-based band The Joint Chiefs. He has also performed with the emerging act The Shack Band, joining them for their summer tour that included opening up for the preeminent jam band Moe. You can hear his playing on their debut album. Also looking for a unique way to add the saxophone to other genres he is an avid country, folk, and blues fan.
